Brunswick County man wins big on scratch-off lottery ticket

A Brunswick County man bought a ticket while filling up his gas tank and later won big in the North Carolina Education Lottery this month.

It's one month into fiscal year 2023 and the headline numbers look good for the Massachusetts Lottery,

But the organization's director on Tuesday pointed out two worrying trends that have emerged and would require greater examination moving forward.

Lottery sales were up $15.7 million in July and the agency posted a monthly estimated profit of $102.9 million compared to $96.2 million in July 2021.

In a letter to the Lottery Commission, Interim Executive Director Mark William Bracken credited the increase in profits to "a combination of a $42.1 million gain in Mega Millions."

Bracken said told the commission that, after adjustments, the Lottery had an estimated $13.3 million increase

In net profit, through the first month of the fiscal year 2023 compared to the start of fiscal 2022.

According to Bracken, the Mega Millions jackpot pushed sales for those tickets. Keno and scratch card sales, however, both declined by close to 5% on Tuesday.

Only Six Star players leave the PGA and join LIV Golf.
